Insomnia

Insomnia is another common condition we see in the clinic. People often suffer from insomnia due to stress, anxiety and a struggle to switch into “relaxation mode” after a busy day. Acupuncture can help to nudge your body out of the sympathetic nervous system “fight or flight” mode into the parasympathetic “rest and digest system”. Patients are often surprised that they are able to sleep during acupuncture and regular treatments can mean an easier time getting to sleep and a more solid stretch of sleep at night.

Sometimes sleep issues have nothing to do with your ability to sleep well.  Body pain, urinary frequency, and night sweats are common sleep disruptors. In these cases the best approach to getting you a good night's sleep is to deal with these roadblocks. Acupuncture can be a good resource for dealing with inflammation, hormone shifts and nervous system control.

Typical treatment plan

At the start we like to see people frequently to give your body consistent support and help develop new sleep habits. Typically a course of treatment would be about 3 treatments per week for the first two weeks and then weekly maintenance visits to keep on track.

At the Acupuncture Hub we strive to make treating chronic issues like insomnia much more feasible. A wide range of appointment times and flexible sliding scale payments mean patients are able to receive consistent care more easily.
